Well, I took the first step to achieving my new year's resolution. As we know, the first step is the hardest.
My wife an I enrolled at the gym around the corner. The counter girl at the shop has been a member for a good while now. They have daycare included so in the mornings we will drop our two boys off at school at 8 and then go to the gym and work out with the counter girl. LOL
We started today. I did about 50 minutes on the bike on the random hill setting. I kept the RPM between 88-92 with a few burst over 100 when the best music came on. My max heart rate was 155. Gonna try to bring that down as well. I figured that I haven't been in a gym in over a decade that I should start out easy. We have an appointment with a trainer on Thursday morning to give us a basic go over and recommendations as well as showing us all the equipment. He is also coming into the shop today to get a piece on his back so it all works out.
The biggest step for me to starting back into the gym has been taken care of, actually going in. We have someone to work out with and motivate us. When I was in the Navy, I would go to the gym for a couple hours every day (Mon-Fri) until I got hurt and only went for physical therapy where I learned to hate the gym. Haven't been back since...until today.
This will be a good thing. And it cost less than two meals out a month for the whole family. Maybe this time next year, I will be back down to under 230, as my goal is. I would love to be back under 200 but I am not holding my breath.
