Shaun of the Dead
Oct. 11th, 2004 05:33 pmIf you haven't seen Shaun of the Dead yet, you must. That is, if you like zombie movies and British comedy. My lovely wife,
azxure asked me before if it was a comedy or a zombie movie. I told her it is both. She said, it can't be both. She took back what she said after seeing it.
I was both a funny comedy and a great zombie movie. It was loaded with little tributes to all of the classics, both zombie movies and directors. There were some that I didn't even catch but my friend Docion, who went with us along with his fiance, caught without a second glance.
It had a very good story in that it wasn't just zombie fluff such as Resident Evil, House of the Dead *urgh* or even the new Dawn of the Dead. It actually showed the way I feel human interaction would change in that situation, albeit with some laughs thrown in.
You defintiely need to go see it. I think even
ashbet would have fun at it. The effects are pretty graphic but they also poke a lot of fun at something that people are afraid of. This could be the one to get you over those irrational zombie fears.
I can't wait until I can get a copy of it for home. Hell, if I knew for sure that my region and code-free DVD player would work well enough, I would order it through Amazon.co.uk. Yes, it is already available on DVD in England. If you have the means to play it, you can get it here.
