Just an update...
Nov. 26th, 2003 10:01 amI went vegetarian around a month ago. I didn't do it for ethical "poor-wittle-aminals" reasons. I still love my leather and will not be getting rid of it. ;) I did it to try to lose a little weight and to be a little healthier. I would like to see my kids graduate high school, at least.
Well, it has worked somewhat well so far. I weighed myself last night. I have lost 13 pounds in the last month. I was at 263 before I started it and I am now at 250 (which sadly, is where I stayed at from '96 until last October when I started Culinary School). I hope I can keep this up. If I can keep with this rate, I can be at my "old-skool-living-in-the-military" weight by spring. I doubt it will happen but it is nice to dream. LOL
I do feel a little better. I am not vegan. I am just not eating any red meat, poultry, or seafood. I still have an egg or two on occasion and I still have cheese. I have been living on Garden/Boca Burgers (which although they may seem expensive, are still cheaper than fast food and tons better for you). You can generally get a four-pack for $3 or so and they are loaded with protein with hardly any of the fat. They even have a flame-grilled variation that smells like we broke out the BBQ when I nuke 'em. And yes, they even taste pretty decent nuked.
I am not trying to convert anyone. I just know that living healthier has been an issue with some of my friends lately. So I thought I'd share.
